Host Computer: BioStar runs on a dedicated host computer installed by HDSS. This PC is intended to run only BioStar software.
Remote Access Options:
Local IP Address – computers on the same network can connect using the host PC’s IP.
Cloud Address – users can connect remotely via a custom cloud URL, such as:
https://www.[communityname].biostar2.com
If you cannot connect through the cloud address, the first two likely causes are:
The host computer is powered off.
The host computer has no internet connection.
What to do:
Go to the host PC and make sure it is powered on and showing either the login screen or the desktop.
If it’s off, turn it on and try connecting again.
Open a web browser on the host PC.
Try visiting multiple websites to confirm internet access.
If the computer cannot connect to the internet, resolve that issue first (router, modem, or network cable).
If the PC is on and online but BioStar is still unreachable:
Restart the host computer.
After rebooting, try accessing BioStar through the cloud address again.
If the cloud address still does not work:
On the host PC, open BioStar 2 by clicking the BioStar icon.
This will launch BioStar in a web browser locally.
If it works locally but not remotely, the issue is likely related to the BioStar cloud service.
On another computer that is connected to the same network as the host PC:
Enter the host PC’s IP address in a browser (example: http://192.168.1.100:81
).
If it works, the local network is fine, and the issue is with the cloud connection.
If it doesn’t work, the remote computer is not on the same network.
If BioStar 2 cannot be reached remotely, it is almost always an internet or host computer issue.
By checking power, internet, and rebooting the PC, you can usually resolve the problem.
If BioStar works locally but not via the cloud, the BioStar cloud service may be temporarily unavailable.
