Placing Your Alarm System on Test Mode

Placing Your Alarm System on Test Mode

Why Should You Place Your Alarm on Test?

Placing your alarm system on test mode is a critical step before performing any maintenance, repairs, or testing. When your system is in test mode, it allows you to trigger alarms without dispatching emergency services. This prevents false alarms, unnecessary fines, and disruptions to your local authorities.

You should place your alarm on test if you are:

  • Testing door/window sensors or motion detectors

  • Replacing batteries in your alarm panel or devices

  • Power cycling your system

  • Conducting routine maintenance or troubleshooting

  • Experiencing false alarms and want to diagnose the issue

What Happens If You Don’t Place It on Test?

If you do not place your system on test mode before working on it, any triggered alarm could be treated as a real emergency. This may result in:

  • Emergency responders being dispatched unnecessarily

  • Fines or penalties from your local jurisdiction

  • Strain on emergency services

  • Confusion or concern for residents or neighbors

How to Place Your Alarm on Test

To place your alarm system on test mode, simply call our central monitoring station:

📞 1-877-206-9141
Have the following information ready:

  • Your verbal password or account code

  • Your property address

  • Approximate duration you’d like the system to remain in test mode (e.g., 30 minutes, 1 hour)

Once complete, the monitoring team will confirm your system is in test mode and no dispatch will occur during that window.

Important Notes:

  • Always call back to take the system off test if you finish early.

  • If your test exceeds the time you originally requested, you may need to call back to extend it.

If you have any questions about this process or need help with a system issue, submit a support ticket and our team will be happy to assist you.
