If your DVR or NVR is making a beeping noise, it's trying to alert you that something may be wrong. These beeps are built-in warning signals to help you catch and resolve issues before they affect your security system.
Below are the most common reasons your system might be beeping and how to check each one:
A failing or disconnected hard drive can trigger a constant beep.
Open your camera app and try to view a recording from yesterday.
If you can’t see any past footage, your hard drive may have failed or disconnected.
📌 Action Needed: Your recorder needs service or hard drive replacement.
A disconnected or faulty camera can also cause your system to beep.
Look at your live feeds from the recorder or app.
If any camera shows “No Video”, it could be due to:
Loose connection
Damaged cable
Defective camera
📌 Action Needed: Check the camera's wiring or contact support to inspect it.
Some recorders beep when motion is detected—this feature is usually disabled by default, but may have been accidentally enabled.
Walk in front of a camera and listen for a beep.
Step out of view and wait.
If the beeping stops when no motion is detected, this is likely the cause.
📌 Action Needed: We can assist you in turning off motion-based alerts if desired.
This is a rare issue, but can occur if your recorder shares an IP address with another device on your network.
Beeping starts randomly even though all cameras are online.
No errors appear on the screen but connectivity seems inconsistent.
📌 Quick Fix: Reboot your recorder and your modem/router. This often resolves the IP conflict automatically.
